WARNING: Beyond this point, there will be spoilers for the rest of the series, so feel free to tread carefully.

❝ You are bright, like the sun. ❞

Akari Taiyou, true to her name, is a bright, happy-go-lucky girl who thinks optimistically. She also believes that there isn't simply one way to do things; instead, she believes that there's always another way, one that is better.

Her bright personality also shows how strong she is, both mentally and physically. Even though her mother only died two years ago, at the tender age of ten, Akari doesn't show any sadness at all. Instead, she pushes through the hardships, smiles, and knows that she still has friends and family who still care about her.

Akari's strength is also shown in her motivation to do anything it takes to help others, even if those people are complete strangers to her. In fact, she protected the Daemonia when their cries were heard, despite what everyone else thought. She believed that if she listened to their voices, she could help them in any way possible. And even when all of the other magical girls were out of commission, Akari herself stepped in to fight them through countless and sleepless nights. This shows that Akari is selfless and that she prioritizes others over herself.

Due to the fact that her mother was a tarot card reader, Akari, too, aims to become an amazing fortune teller. And because of this, she gets overexcited whenever tarot cards, fortunes, or tarot card readings are brought up. Her eyes even light up and she goes on ridiculous tangents because of how much she enjoys tarot card reading.

Friends and family are also a huge deal for Akari. She cares about them all equally and doesn't like it when bad things happen to them. In fact, they make her sad; one of the reasons why she can't accept Fuyuna's reasoning behind turning into a Daemonia. Even though she sometimes seems selfless, there are parts of her that are selfish, too. Like the fact that she wants her life to be happy, as well as everyone else's. And because of that, she doesn't always seem to understand certain concepts such as love beyond familial/friendship or why people would do such horrible things.

Akari is quite naive, seeing as she would believe almost anything that someone close to her would say, regardless to whether it's true or not. Even more so when other people's lives are at stake. Her life is nothing compared to others; when it comes down to it, she'll sacrifice herself for the good of the many.

Even though Akari doesn't show it often, she is still just an ordinary twelve year old girl. She's afraid of ghosts, gets embarrassed by photos of her when she was little, and she isn't very bright when it comes to class work (in fact, she gets poor grades!).

Abilities/Powers: Akari is an Elemental Tarot user, otherwise known as a magical girl. Akari’s arcana and tarot card is “The Sun”, which causes her to make plants grow without knowing it. See exhibit A. She also transforms using her tarot card, as shown here. Her normal form is on the left, her transformed state is on the right. She can also speak to Deamonia (due to being half Deamonia!), as well as use a fire rapier.
Items/Weapons: Her tarot deck, which includes her special tarot card, her flaming rapier that only shows up when she transforms, and the clothes on her back.
Sample Entry:

[ When the video feed switches on, a young girl around the age of twelve shows up, gripping on her arm nervous before finally speaking, trying to sound confident, even if there’s a hint of nervousness in her voice. ]

U, um… I don’t know who this phone belongs to, but if it belongs to anyone here, I’d really like to return it! [ And then, with a bright smile: ] Oh, and as an apology, I’d really like to help tell your fortune, too! Though… I guess anybody can get their fortunes told if they want one, eheh. That is, if you really want to!

[ She gulps nervously, clenching her hands into tight fists before continuing. ]

So, if anybody wants to take me up on my offer, let’s schedule a time and place, okay? Fortune telling is really fun, and I promise that I won’t curse you! … Unless the cards say otherwise, they kind of have a mind of their own. But they’re the best! I mean, they let you tell the future, past, and present without knowing anything but the person’s name! I can even teach you how to read the tarot cards too. It’ll be really fun, and…

[ And then she realizes she’s rambling. Oops. With an awkward laugh, she decides to go back to the main topic. ]

A- anyway, I really want to help everyone out as much as I can to the best of my abilities! So if there’s anything at all that I can help out with, I’d really like to help!

I don’t want to see anybody feel sad because they’re in such a scary place, after all…

Sample Entry Two:

Not again.

Akari had yet again failed to change the fate of her cousin, Fuyuna, who she cared about so much. The more times she repeated that fateful day, the more times she felt more and more guilty for killing her. She was the sole reason why Fuyuna had turned into a Daemonia, after all.

It was all her fault, and she couldn’t do anything about it. All she could do was repeatedly wake up, kill her cousin, rinse and repeat. Doing it over and over again was tiresome, and it wore her down.

”You hate her. Fuyuna knew that and considered you as her enemy.”

Cerebrum’s words rang through her mind before jolting awake, eyes heavy; weary from exhaustion and despair. Maybe he was right; perhaps she did hate Fuyuna. She did have near perfect grades and an actual family, after all.

No. Clenching her tiny hand into a tight fist, she reassured herself that wasn’t the case. She didn’t hate her; she was family, after all.

Nevertheless, she had to find another way to save her. Dying was already horrifying, but the fact that the blood of her cousin, who she saw as a sister was on her hands repeatedly, endlessly until she accepted her inevitable fate, was just too painful to take.

Akari soon glanced around the room, her body trembling nervously before her bright orange eyes widened, face awash with shock and surprise.

“W, where…” the young tarot card user spoke, her voice hushed as she was baffled by her surroundings. Was she somewhere else? This didn’t seem to be the Sephirotic Tree after all. But… did this mean that she could no longer save Fuyuna?

As soon as that realization reached her mind, tears began to flow from her eyes, loud wails escaping her lips. Akari attempted to wipe them away, but they still continued, unable to stop.

“Fuyuna…” Akari whimpered in a soft voice, trying to catch her breath as she sniffled. She had to remain strong. “I’m so sorry I couldn’t help you, and that you became a Daemonia because of me… It’s all my fault!”

Curling up into a fetal position, the young orange haired girl rocked back and forth, unable to comprehend her current situation. Or to even move from the bed she was on, even if it wasn’t her bed from home.
